Resummation of large higher order corrections in non-linear QCD evolution and its relevance for electron-proton DIS
Parton evolution in high-energy QCD suffers from a severe lack-of-convergence problem, due to radiative corrections enhanced by large transverse logarithms. Corrections enhanced by double logarithms have a kinematical origin and are associated with soft gluon emissions which are strictly ordered in lifetime, while those enhanced by single logarithms are dynamical and are generated by the standard DGLAP evolution and the running of the QCD coupling. We resum such corrections to all orders to arrive at an evolution equation with a well-defined solution. Such a numerical solution is used to fit the HERA data for electron-proton deep inelastic scattering at small values of Bjorken-x.
