Simulating non-Abelian gauge fields with cold atoms and ions
This special session within the context of the international workshop "QCD-TNT-III From quarks and gluons to hadronic matter: A bridge too far?" aims at summarizing the state-of-the-art, as well as highlighting the future perspectives, of simulating non-Abelian (confining) gauge theories using ultracold neutral atoms trapped in optical lattices, and other systems. The scheduled speakers are
- 15:00-16:00 Juan-Ignacio Cirac (MPQ, Garching), Quantum simulation of High energy models with cold atoms
- 16:00-16:45 Marcello Dalmonte (IQOQI, Innsbruck), The cold atom lattice gauge toolbox: juggling between high-energy and AMO physics
- 16:45-17:30 Matteo Rizzi (University of Mainz), An optical lattice based quantum simulator for relativistic fermions and topological insulators
It is expected that this session will lead to a lively discussion and cross-fertilization of ideas coming from the different and complementary expertise of the attendees.
