Recent development of chiral effective field theory and its application to nuclear structure calculations
Since Weinberg's proposal in 90's, nuclear force based on chiral effective field theory (EFT) has been developed up to next-to-next-to-next-to leading order (N3LO), which, presumably should give a model-independent description of nucleon-nucleon interaction with high accuracy. The first part of this talk will be dedicated to some recent efforts toward this goal. Then, I will discuss an alternative way to perform few- and many-body nuclear structure calculation without performing unitary transformation. This new approach preserves the EFT power counting in truncated model space and therefore guarantees the model-independence of the results.
